Panel & service upgrades

Your panel is the heart of your home's electrical system. When it's old, overloaded, or unsafe, everything downstream is at risk.

When to upgrade

What the job includes

  1. Load calculation to size the new service correctly.
  2. Permit application with the local building department.
  3. Coordination with Duke Energy for disconnect and reconnect where a meter or service change is needed.
  4. New panel, main breaker, and branch breakers (including AFCI/GFCI where code requires).
  5. Grounding and bonding brought up to current requirements.
  6. Circuit labeling, testing, and final inspection.

How long it takes

Most panel swaps take one day, with power off for several hours. Service upgrades that involve the utility may need a second visit. We'll give you the schedule in writing.
